Puppy Care and Training
Puppy Care
All puppies are hand reared, lap loved, and will be ready for you and your family. Your new baby will come home with a care package, including a bag of transition food they have been eating, comfort blanket with the scent of siblings and mom, & a new toy or two. All of your puppies info including shot records, puppy registration with AKC, purchase contract, vet check info, and feeding schedule. We ask that you continue with the current feeding schedule and food for at least one week. Puppy will have digestive problems if you transition them to anything new, too quickly. You can then add half and half for at least a 3 day period. We use Royal Canin Puppy or Purina Pro Plan High Protein Toy Breed Puppies. Sometimes the food will be different, as not all puppies are the same. We suggest you look for any appetite or stool changes, and have them addressed by your vet immediately and breeder notified. ****There are several environmental pathogens that can be picked up and not always detected by fecal exams right away.****ALL puppies will need a tube of Nutrical on hand. There are several brands available. We use the Nutrical brand. Small breed dogs can have issues with their blood sugar {hypoglycemia} dropping fast if they don't get small snacks, several times a day. Hypoglycemia can also happen during times of stress, cold temperatures, excessive play, or any feeding changes, Dizziness, fatigue, or slumber can be early signs to watch for. ***AGAIN, Nutrical is a must have!!-little thimble sized snacks are recommended 3-4 times a day. Also, plain yogurt or Honey Nut Cheerios can be a good nutritional snack. ** Always consult with your breeder and vet if hypoglycemia is suspected, even if it subsides. HYPOGLYCEMIA CAN BE FATAL!!A "Health Guarantee" is provided. Please review before your purchase. Since, Hypoglycemia is common occurrence in small breeds, itis not an illness and is therefore not covered in that guarantee.

Training
All of our puppies are trained to use a washable potty pad. We do, however, train them to ring bells at a door to go outside. Bell training cannot start until they have received their first set of shots. They need that protection before being outside. There way too many germs that are harmful to these little pups, to allow them out earlier. So, some puppies understand really quickly, some need more training at their new homes. You may not choose to continue this at your home, that's ok. You train your puppy for your lifestyle. But, potty pads will be your best friend!! I like washable, because they are cheaper and you can wash them. The throw away, paper pads get chewed on and shredded. They will already know their names, so if you pay a deposit and want to rename them, do so quickly. At this age it won't take long to learn a name for them. They are very intelligent and inquisitive. Yorkies are amazing dogs, very loyal and great companions. They love their humans HUGELY!! For additional training for specific things, research on YouTube. There's a wealth of great information!!
